Core values information will be standard in all of the GVM data collected. In addition other information will be selected depending on the target market identified. This can include all or a number of the following:

· Political organizations
· Business organizations
· Civil Society organizations
· A range of or all of the above

The information contained in the Global Values Monitor WorldSCAN Survey will be shown in such a way as to provide easily understood graphical data for action. The types of indicators will include a number or all of the following:

Aid Agriculture Competitiveness Consumption
Crime Democracy Economy Education
Energy Environment Ethnicity Ethics
Flexibility Governance Happiness Health
Media Access Resources Politics Population
Productivity Quality of Life Religion Society Values
Stability Technology Trade plus others....

GVM WorldSCAN is a multi-layered survey which incorporates all or some of the above issues into an integrated whole.

 “Vital Signs” Capacity

The above indicators and others identified by client organisations will be used in identifying the Vital Signs for the Global Values Monitor WorldSCAN. These and other “Vital Signs” will be available on the GVN central facility in Cape Town as well as through cyber links to similar facilities in other GVN regional locations.

Much of the above information is currently available from existing sources but is not consolidated into an overall strategic framework in existing global surveys.

As part of the process Regional Values Monitors will be built in order to look in depth at regions where development initiatives are required but problematic. This could include areas such as the Middle East and Africa as well as other areas where there are high levels of instability and a lack of sustained development.

Sample of Regional Profiles

Note: Values profiles for both the US and Europe indicate the predominant values being in the Blue/Orange/Green/Yellow systems which are the ones that support post-modern economic development activities. Sub-Saharan Africa on the other hand has predominant values in the Purple/Red/Blue range which broadly explains the reason why development activities in this region have not been successful.

South Africa like many developing economies has two peaks, one at the Purple/Red/Blue range and the second smaller peak at the Blue/Orange/Green/Yellow range. This is a reflection of the world which has similar percentages in the various ranges.

The GVM WorldSCAN Survey assists organizations in the identification of these values trends and also provides a framework within which integral solutions can be designed and implemented at the local, regional and global levels.
